Saint Malo and Mont Saint-Michel with Carrie O'Connor

Saint Malo, Bretagne

Your browser may not support display of this image. We’ll take the TGV (super fast train) from Paris to Saint Malo. Saint Malo is a walled city on the western coast of France. It is highly popular during the summer because of its beautiful walled city and nearby beaches. Saint Malo has one of the highest concentrations of seafood restaurants in Europe, specializing in oysters from a nearby town.

Attractions include (but are not limited to):

Walled city

Cathedral

Chateaubriand’s tomb

Nautical museum

Two tidal islands that can be visited at low tide

Galettes, butter, sea salt! (Yumm!)

Beach!

Mont Saint-Michel, Basse-Normandie

Mont Saint-Michel is a small island off the coast of France, on top of which sits the Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel, rich in history and architectural beauty. The island only comprises 41 permanent inhabitants and is reached during low tide when a causeway appears between the island and mainland.

There are many cute restaurants and tourist shops to browse after we visit the Abbey. We will take a train from Saint-Malo and spend the day here.
